Role / Department

Northern Trust is recruiting for an Associate Auditor to join the Audit Services function to focus on audits of Northern Trust\'s technology activities. The role offers an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to contribute to the enhancement and further growth of the global Audit Services team. Through engagement with other team members, you will work to execute audit engagements of a global nature. Success is measured by the comprehensiveness of the workpapers, quality of the audit testing, timeliness of the deliveries and your ability to foster relationships both internally in the audit department and with key stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal technology controls
  • Assist in determining the audit scope and audit testing approach, in conjunction with the Auditor In Charge and Audit Manager
  • Apply analytical skills to review information and determine potential control weaknesses
  • Understand and execute test steps to assess the design and operating effectiveness of the control and/or control environment
  • Complete and document a high-quality summary of findings for review
  • Participate in meetings with business units to communicate audit results as well as validating findings with business management
  • Apply data analytics methods to facilitate the evaluation of risks and controls
  • Supports on issue tracking and validation testing of closure of issues
  • Contribute to the further enhancement of the audit services process and provide input to special projects, as assigned
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the Northern Trust Audit Methodology and adheres to all applicable Department Standards
  • Complete high quality summary of findings and recommendations in a concise and professional manner
  • Work closely with unit managers to devise specific technology related audit tests

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of auditing in the financial services industry and basic accounting principles and related work experience
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CISA, CIA, ACA, ACCA) and/or demonstrated technical abilities in select areas
  • Analytical and organizational skills are necessary to conduct audits
  • Report writing and workpaper documentation skills
  • Knowledge of systems software applications and databases common to the mainframe and distributed environments, such as UNIX, AS400, and Windows
