A & P Services are looking for an enthusiastic Apprentice Accounts Assistant to join their existing team.

This new position is an ideal opportunity for someone who plans to develop a career in Accounts.

You will be assisting with purchase ledger, sales ledger, payroll and other finance functions.

Wage: £14,768 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age.

National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices.

Minimum wage rates (opens in new tab).

Hours: Monday to Thursday working between the hours of 9:00am - 5:00pm and Friday working between the hours of 9:00am - 3:00pm. 35 hours 30 minutes a week.

Monday 10 August 2026.

Duration: 1 year 2 months.

Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
  • Record transactional data.
  • On and off the job training.
  • Level 2 Accounts or Finance Assistant Apprenticeship.
  • Day release to Newcastle Training Offices.

Requirements

GCSE in: English and maths (grade C/4 or above).
