You’ll combine practical HR advisory work with ownership of training and development, playing a key role in improving onboarding, strengthening line management capability, and supporting employees throughout the full lifecycle.

Working closely with an experienced external HR Consultant / Fractional HR Director, you’ll be supported, mentored, and developed with a clear pathway to step into a more senior HR role as the business grows.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • HR Advisory & Employee Relations
    • Act as the go-to HR contact for managers and employees, providing clear, practical advice
    • Support and lead on performance, conduct, absence, and welfare cases
    • Manage investigations, disciplinary and grievance processes
    • Handle long-term sickness and complex employee situations
    • Escalate higher-risk cases while building your own capability
  • Line Manager Support & Development
    • Coach and guide managers on handling people issues confidently
    • Support difficult conversations and decision-making
    • Help build a stronger, more accountable management culture
    • Contribute to practical tools, templates, and guidance
  • Onboarding & Induction
    • Improve and oversee onboarding across office staff and Security Officers
    • Ensure strong, consistent induction experiences from day one
    • Support probation processes and early intervention check-ins
    • Take ownership of vetting and screening processes (including compliance requirements)
  • Training & Development
    • Deliver and manage the company's training plan
    • Identify skills gaps and support development planning
    • Design and deliver in-house training (HR, management, behaviours, onboarding)
    • Support apprentices and liaise with training providers
    • Maintain accurate training records and reporting
  • Training Centre & Accreditation
    • Support the running of the accredited training centre
    • Take on Internal Verification (IV) responsibilities over time
    • Maintain awarding body relationships and audit readiness
    • Contribute to course quality and continuous improvement
  • HR Projects & Compliance
    • Maintain and update HR policies in line with UK employment law
    • Support compliance and best practice across the business
    • Produce HR data and insights (absence, turnover, ER, training)
    • Support wider people projects and continuous improvement

Essential What we’re looking for

  • Minimum 3 years' HR generalist experience (Advisor level or similar)
  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment law
  • Confident handling employee relations and casework
  • Comfortable delivering training and coaching managers
  • Able to build trust while also challenging when needed
  • Hands-on, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • CIPD Level 5 (or working towards) or equivalent experience

Desirable

  • Experience delivering onboarding or management training
  • Exposure to investigations, disciplinary and grievance processes
  • Knowledge of training centre operations or accreditation (IV/IQA)
  • Experience in operational sectors (security, FM, logistics, construction, etc.)
  • L&D or training qualification
  • IQA qualification (or willingness to obtain)

Why join us?

  • Be part of a business where HR is visible and valued
  • Opportunity to build and shape processes from the ground up
  • Work closely with an experienced HR Consultant for mentoring and development
  • Clear pathway to progress into a senior HR role
  • Varied, hands-on role where you'll see the impact of your work
