Key Responsibilities
- Managing planned operations and fault activities on the Northeast HV and EHV network.
- Pursuing safety and customer service excellence.
- Being an integral part of our team of technical and qualified engineers, working on a shift rota, coupled with an ability to make decisions and work in demanding situations.
- Effective communications and liaison with regional field staff, dispatch, customer service and external stakeholders in planned and reactive situations.
- Production and communication of effective and clear reports to line management, cross functional teams, and stakeholders.
- Ability to oversee and control operational practice and process between the Network Control Centre and the operational business.
- Ability to work alongside a team of shift engineers and network control managers within the Network Control Centre.
- Competent with DSR and OPM safety rules.
- Ability to manage system risk and elevate as necessary within the team.
- Ability to prioritize faults from conception to completion liaising predominantly with the network control manager and regional engineering colleagues to restore customer supplies.
- Competent in the use of IT system, specifically utilized within the control room arena.
Qualifications & Attributes
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Technical and protection knowledge of the distribution network.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Experience as a fully authorised engineer up to and including 132kV and protection systems.
- Authorisation and experience on electrical networks up to and including primary system voltage.
- Knowledge of Control Operations and its processes.
- Knowledge of the Network Access Planning process.
In addition, suitably authorised individuals will continue to be eligible to participate in the company’s Car Ownership Scheme to undertake HV Fonetrack response or join the scheme once suitably authorised for Control Engineer and Ground Mounted apparatus operations up to 20kV.
