We are looking for a Pensions Manager to join the Finance team and be based out of our Castleford or Newcastle office. As the Pensions Manager, you will lead on all pension matters including the development of a pension provision strategy that meets the business’s requirements. You will represent the business’s interests to the Trustees of the business’s pension schemes and ensure effective administration and governance of the schemes.

A key element of the role is to provide leadership to the Pensions Analysts to deliver opportunities to improve the pension scheme services to the benefit of the business and the members; identify pension related risks and provide solutions; and maintain all regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure high standards of customer service to pension scheme members;
  • Develop and monitor the pension team members to ensure they are committed to performing their roles effectively.
  • Oversight of the Group Trustees annual financial budget;
  • Company nominated EPL director to ensure efficient running of ESPS, and ensuring Company’s views are considered.
  • Ensure the payment of required pension contributions, company and member, to the respective schemes;
  • Lead the business’s pensions activity by maintaining technical pension knowledge and provide insightful understanding of changes to regulations or legislation, and potential effects on the business.
  • Lead the regular auto-enrolment reviews and ensure the submission of the declaration of compliance.
  • Lead the business’s liaison with the Group Trustees of the ESPS, and ensure the business’s interests are considered.
  • Maintain the financial responsibility of the pension team budgets, including settlement of all invoices in a timely manner.
  • Co‑ordinate the Pensions Committee meetings and act as Committee Secretary to ensure efficient operation.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal teams (HR, Payroll), as well as external advisers to ensure a smooth provision of services.
  • Manage all regulatory reporting compliance with Ofgem, The Pensions Regulator and Pension Protection Fund.
  • Strong performance management capability with a focus on developing self, others to achieve targets and goals and continuously improve performance.
  • The ability to communicate with and explain complex pension matters to non-finance people, influence key decision-makers and to think long term.
  • Ability to forge strong relationships with all relevant members of the directorate and be able to communicate key messages clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to understand complex pension legislation and convert these into a clear, coherent position.
  • Driven individual with a focus on developing self and others to achieve targets and goals, continuously improving performance.
  • Ability to manage change and drive performance standards.
