Do you want to play a key role in delivering major infrastructure projects and help shape the electricity distribution network of the future?
We’re looking for an experienced Lead Project Delivery Engineer to join our Major Projects West Yorkshire Team at Northern Powergrid, where you’ll take the lead in managing and delivering complex projects safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards—from 11kV through to 132kV.
You will bring extensive experience as a Senior Authorised Person (SAP), with operational authorisations in all disciplines at voltages from 11kV to 132kV—or up to 400kV. You will also have in-depth knowledge of safety procedures, including CDM regulations and UK electrical safety rules.

- SAP authorisations at 132kV to 400kV.
- Or those working toward full SAP status at 132kV in all disciplines, with a clear plan to achieve this within 12 months.

Key Responsibilities
- Operations on the network at all voltages and in all disciplines up to and including 132kV
- Setting staff to work on complex EHV networks to safe systems of work
- Delivery and management of strategic complex major projectsto time, cost and quality.
- Lead safety management and supervision on complex major projects.
- Outage and Emergency Return to Service planning and execution on complex networks
- Lead operational assessment panels.
- Maintaining an in-depth knowledge on an EHV subject matter and training colleagues in a formal setting.
Key Competencies
- Extensive and current operational experience of operating on a UK network as a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) in all disciplines and at all voltages from 11kV to 132kV. Current experience as an SAP at 275kV/400kV will also be considered.
- Extensive knowledge and demonstrable experience of applying safety procedures, specifically CDM regulations, and the Distribution Safety Rules.
- Experience of undertaking plant and equipment commissioning.
- Extensive experience of delivering complex projects to time, cost and quality.
- Leadership skills.
What qualifications and experience should you have?
- HNC, HND, degree, or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering with at least three years of relevant EHV SAP operational experience.
- Hold existing HV and EHV Senior Authorised Person status for a UK network company.
- NEBOSH/IOSH or similar qualification is desirable.
