An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Lead Analyst to join our People and Change team within the Performance & Planning Team. Northern Powergrid, as the company responsible for powering everyday life for 8 million customers across 3.9 million homes and businesses in the North East, Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire, is at the forefront of delivering a power network that meets the region’s needs now and in the future.
Performance & Planning provides insight, analytics, and reporting across the business with this role particularly focused on our corporate and regulatory reporting against the commitments we have made to our customers, our regulator and our shareholder. This role will provide the opportunity to be a part of the Energy industry at an exciting time as we transition to Net Zero and head into a new regulatory period. This is an interesting role that works closely with all areas of the business and has strong relationships with our regulatory partners.
We are looking for a candidate with a strong analytical and numerical background that can produce high-quality written and graphical work. They must be able to operate as part of a team, including external providers, and be confident leading and managing large deliverables independently. The right candidate, as the most senior role in the team, will closely support the P&P lead with delegations and supporting team development.
Along with a competitive salary between £50,000 - £60,000, we also offer great benefits such as:

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Management, production and publication of key regulatory reports including the Strategic Commentary and Business Plan Commitments Report.
- Perform in depth analysis and benchmarking across the sector to inform key decision making.
- Lead performance reporting and function as the key business representative with our/the Independent stakeholder group.
- Monitoring and forecasting of our incentives and non-financial performance, assisting key decision makers in maximising performance in these areas.
- Mentor and support the professional development of the Performance & Planning analysts.
- Deputise for the Performance & Planning Lead when required.

- Stakeholder Management – Your role will interface with multiple directorates, external providers and senior stakeholders and you must be able to manage those stakeholders professionally and effectively.
- Presentational Skills – The ability to turn data into meaningful and insightful outputs will be a critical part of this role, as well as being able to then convey their meaning to a range of audiences.
- Organisation and Time Management – As the lead for regulatory reporting, you will be responsible for independently managing your time and the time of others to ensure you are able to deliver high-quality stakeholder reporting in line with regulatory standards.
- Mentoring and Coaching – As the deputy to the Performance & Planning Lead, you will be a key part of developing the team to reach their goals and move onto the next step in their career.

- Ability to turn data into meaningful actionable insight to tell a story/assess performance and opportunities to drive improvements – this includes work on dissertations or similar projects.
- Strong analytical ability with data retrieval and manipulation.
- Advanced in the use of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Degree or equivalent in relevant field.
- Experience of business performance reporting.
