Reporting to a Connections Manager, you will be responsible for preparing domestic & small commercial applications through its quotation journey, working alongside our Connections Technician and Works Coordinator, supporting them throughout the process. This could be to accommodate a new build property, an existing property requiring an increase or amendment of supply, requesting low carbon technology or a small commercial business. 10/10 customer service is what Northern Powergrid strives for, and your role is crucial in this journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Screening connections applications received from customers for minimum information and progressing system administration of each application through to the Connection Technician and / or Works Coordinator.
  • Releasing schemes to Connection Technicians / Works Coordinator with an accurate appraisal of the information required to enable a fluid journey for the customer.
  • Complete network checks & take the necessary follow-on steps, liaising with a range of departments as required, in-line with Design Rules, Guaranteed Standards & the internal price book.
  • Desktop working on multiple systems to progress customer requests across multiple workstreams such as service disconnections, diversions, unmetered supplies, generation and street lighting.
  • Providing support to colleagues within the wider connections’ teams.
  • Managing own workload & be able to adjust priorities as work volumes alter.
  • Supporting the Connection Technicians / Works Coordinator to ensure customers’ experience with us is 10/10.
  • Assisting the wider Northern Powergrid team during Major Incidents.

Starting salary: £26,676, with progression to £29,395 (P&A L2 pp6-8)

  • Results driven – responsible for your productivity to meet and/or exceed performance targets and comply with standards.
  • Effective Communicator – Be able to adapt your communication style & method to suit your audience, including verbal and written communication.
  • Team Working – One of Northern Powergrid’s Power Principles. You must be a strong team player & be willing to support your immediate & the wider team.
  • Minimum 2 A-Levels or Relevant Level 3 Qualification.

Other Beneficial Attributes/Experience:

  • Previous experience within data flow and administration environment.
  • Basic understanding of the power distribution network including new connections & the regulatory and legislative framework, although this is not essential as training will be provided.
