About Us:

Northern PowerGrid are an electricity Distribution Network Operator and a leading part of the Berkshire Hathaway UK group, committed to excellence and innovation across all our business units. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a talented and experienced senior tax professional to support our Head of Technical Accounting & Quality and lead our tax initiatives.

What You\’ll Do:

  • Take charge of all UK and Australian tax activities, ensuring compliance and accounting for Corporation Tax, Income Tax, National Insurance, VAT, Tied Oils and more.
  • Provide strategic tax advice and guidance to our business units, helping them navigate complex tax legislation.
  • Foster strong relationships with HMRC and maintain a low tax risk status for the group.
  • Collaborate with our US parent company, delivering key tax insights and reports.
  • Lead and mentor a talented team of Taxation Accountants, ensuring the highest standards of performance.

What We\’re Looking For:

  • Proven tax management experience, ideally from industry or Top 4 practice.
  • Extensive practical experience in Corporation Tax, Income Tax, National Insurance, and VAT for large complex Group businesses
  • A qualified accountant with a Chartered Institute of Taxation qualification (preferred).
  • Exceptional analytical skills, strong IT proficiency, and a keen eye for detail.
  • A collaborative spirit, capable of communicating complex tax matters clearly to non-finance colleagues.
