We are looking for someone who is passionate about communications and can help share our story as we deliver our plans to invest in our network, support net zero and create a greener energy future. This position offers a starting salary of between £30,424 - £33,323.
Our structured training programme offers a unique opportunity to gain hands‑on experience across a wide range of finance disciplines while studying towards a CIMA professional accountancy qualification. You’ll benefit from:
- A structured rotational programme across key finance areas;
- Fully supported professional study;

This is a challenging but rewarding programme that will require commitment, curiosity and a strong work ethic. Your base will be one of our key sites in either Castleford, Sunderland, Shiremoor or Newcastle, however you will be required to spend periods of time at other locations across the North East and Yorkshire. Where necessary, you will be provided with overnight accommodation and subsistence allowances.
The programme typically runs for 3 to 3.5 years (depending on prior qualifications) and combines on‑the‑job experience with formal study. You will complete a series of rotations (from 2 weeks to 4 months), gaining experience in areas such as:
- Management accounting and business partnering;
- Regulatory reporting;
- Taxation;
- Treasury;
- Internal and external audit.
These placements are designed to build both your technical expertise and your commercial understanding, preparing you for a leadership role in finance. We’re seeking individuals who are motivated, adaptable and keen to develop a career in finance.
