Insurance & Contracts Officer – Northern Marine Group
Support the day‑to‑day function of the Commercial Department in the service provision of Contracting, Insurance and Business Compliance Policies, Procedures and Practices to the NM Group.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation in the drafting of ship management contracts and agreements as required
- Review and approval of business-related contracts as required
- Overview of the contract management process ensuring business unit compliance through annual audit
- Prepare and maintain master list of all ship & crew management related contracts and agreements showing contract term, renewal and cancelling dates as applicable and maintain within the contract management system
- Maintain and monitor the contract management system and support business units to fully utilise the system
- Identify ship and crew management contract compliance requirements and review on an annual basis
- Deputise as company insurance point of contact
- Assess owners insurance requirements under ship management, crew management and catering agreements and identify relevant contacts at owners, brokers and underwriters
- Ascertain owners requirements for claims processing and prepare schedule of deductibles and premium payments for circulation to the fleet groups and accounts department as required
- Support ship groups with the preparation of claims
- Maintain records of all insurance reported incidents and prepare analysis of claims by type on an annual basis
- Maintain file of all company and vessel insurance certificates
- Assist with the annual placement of company insurances and maintain file of all current policies
- Monitor proper compliance of international sanction related policies and procedures
- Ensure that all activities are carried out in accordance with the company’s Quality, Health, safety & Environment (QHSE), Ethics and Compliance policies
- Ad hoc projects as required
- You may be asked from time to time to undertake other tasks that are considered to be relevant to your position
Candidate Requirements
- Degree in related discipline or equivalent experience
- Experience of working with commercial aspects of a service organisation
- Knowledge of contracting, insurance and general business compliance practices
- Good commercial acumen and analytical skills
- Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, and unambiguous manner
- Good planning and organisational skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Positive attitude with strong focus on the success of the company
- Good level of critical thinking and problem‑solving skills
- Proficient with MS Office tools
