Overview

The post holder will deputise from time to time for absent colleagues in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of Service, undertake additional duties in occasional emergencies, and be available for irregular commitments outside normal duties as are essential for continuity of patient care. The post holder will attend regular Multi-Disciplinary Audit Meetings and may have opportunities for research under the guidance of Consultants. The post holder will be encouraged to undertake skill-based courses and will take part in teaching and supervision of junior doctors and students in the department. The post holder will work as part of the team within the Group. There is an Education Centre on site where regular clinical meetings are held. The College Tutor is Miss Hina Ejaz. The post would suit a good team player dedicated to high quality patient care, with the opportunity to work in a non-hierarchical setting and to perform a wide range of gynaecological and obstetric procedures in this busy DGH.

Responsibilities

  • Depute from time to time for absent colleagues in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of Service.
  • Perform additional duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances at the request of the appropriate Consultant in consultation with colleagues.
  • Be available for irregular commitments outside normal rostered duties as are essential for continuity of patient care.
  • Attend the departmental audit arrangements and regular Multi-Disciplinary Audit meetings.
  • Take part in teaching and supervision of junior doctors and students in the department.
  • Work as part of the team within the Group.
  • Engage with the Education Centre on site and participate in regular clinical meetings.

Education, Training and Qualifications

  • Research opportunities may be provided for research under the guidance of Consultants.
  • The appointee will be required to attain the requisite number of internal and external hours CME as detailed by the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and will be expected to make quarterly CME returns to the RCOG to allow certification as directed by the national body.
  • Long days, nights and weekend cover will be a 1:7 full shift rota with full prospective cover in operation.
  • The CME is on Friday afternoons.
  • The post holder will be expected to deliver high quality care to patients presenting to the Department.

The appointee will be expected to deliver high quality care to the patients presenting to the department. The CME is on Friday afternoons.
