Currently have a vacancy for a Second Engineer for service onboard their Aids to Navigation Tenders on a fixed manning rota – 28 days duty followed by 28 days leave.

The Northern Lighthouse Board is the General Lighthouse Authority for Scotland and the Isle of Man, responsible for the superintendence and management of all lighthouses, buoys and beacons within those waters. We have provided this vital safety service to mariners since 1786.
The Role – Overview
As Second Engineer, you will be responsible for the planning and implementation of day to day activities in the Engine room and assisting the Chief Engineer with the safe, effective and efficient operation of all technical systems.
Salary and Benefits
- £54,994 per annum rising to £59,680 per annum
- A Civil Service Pension with an average employer contribution of 28%

Qualifications Required
- Preferably a Chief Engineer Unlimited (III/2) Certificate of Competency, however, a Second Engineer Unlimited CoC (III/2) with a Chief Engineer endorsement (III/3) will be considered
- Safety Officer's Course
- ISPS - Proficiency in Designated Security Duties
- Elementary First Aid
- Experience of diesel/electric powered vessels
- Knowledge of statute and regulations
- A valid unrestricted MCA Medical Certificate (ENG 1)
- Flexibility and good interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to communicate at all levels
- Previous work on Dynamic Positioning vessels would be advantageous
