The Campus Recreation lifeguard position is established to ensure the safety of our patrons and participants. This includes accident prevention in the water and surrounding deck areas by enforcing facility policies. Lifeguards must also maintain the proper certifications and physical fitness required by industry standards. All in-service training sessions and staff meetings are mandatory.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Facility supervision and maintenance.
- Educating guests on rules and regulations.
- Following verbal and written directions.
- Removal of safety hazards from facility.
- Completion of required records.
- Daily cleaning assignments.
- Punctual attendance for shifts.
- Communication with peers and faculty/staff.
- Required attendance at all in-service trainings.
Qualifications:
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Certified with CPR/AED for the professional rescuer or YMCA Lifeguard Certified with ASHI CPR/AED for the professional and Standard First Aid.
- Bloodborne Pathogens and Administering Emergency Oxygen Certifications highly recommended.
- Water Safety Instructor or equivalent certification a plus.
