Auditions: La Traviata Chorus and Supporting Roles
Closing Date for applications: 30th March 2022
NI Opera invites singers of all voice types to audition for the Chorus, and for supporting roles for our September production of Verdi's La Traviata at the Grand Opera House, Belfast.
We encourage applications from all backgrounds and communities and are committed to having a team that is made up of diverse skills, experiences and abilities. Applicants from the ages of 18+ may apply, and are asked to prepare an aria (in the original language) or song of their choice.
We are looking for applicants who are interested in joining Northern Ireland Opera to perform in the chorus of La Traviata. As part of this opportunity, we will offer professional development sessions throughout the build-up to the production. We will provide training sessions across different choruses from different periods and different composers, including the choruses of La Traviata in the run up to our September production: working with music specialists and chorus masters, choreographers, and conductors. You will also then have the opportunity to perform in a concert of these choruses towards the end of 2022 as part of a celebration of the Great Opera Choruses.
To apply, please send a short cover letter detailing your musical/singing experience, and your CV if singing is or has been your primary profession to info@niopera.com on or by 30 March 2022. Please identify any other skills you may have related to performance or the arts. If you would like to be considered for a supporting or step-out role from the chorus please indicate this in your application letter. Please note, that since chorus members will need to attend the professional development sessions in Belfast, this opportunity is most suited to singers based on the island of Ireland.
Rehearsals commence for La Traviata August 8 (chorus rehearsals will be mostly evenings and Saturdays)
Production week at Grand Opera House – Week commencing Sept 4 – Full time
Production Dates: Sept 10, 13, 15, 17
Please note these auditions are for the chorus and supporting roles for La Traviata only. Auditions for Music Theatre, and for General Auditions will be held later in the year.
