Sustainable NI is seeking Board Members to help the organisation deliver its mission to promote and support sustainable development in Northern Ireland. This is a unique opportunity to provide strategic leadership, influence policy, and make a lasting environmental and social impact. We welcome applicants from a wide range of professional backgrounds — within or outside the sustainability sector — who share our passion for creating a fairer, greener future.

Our Board plays a vital leadership role, ensuring we deliver on our ambitious strategic plan and maintain the highest standards of governance, transparency, and impact. We are looking for new Board Members bringing a diverse mix of skills, experience, and insights to inform strategic decisions, challenge constructively, and act as ambassadors for Sustainable NI.

We are particularly interested in individuals with:

  • Proven senior leadership experience (Executive or Non-Executive) and strategic thinking skills
  • The ability to collaborate, challenge constructively, and make evidence-based decisions
  • Experience in Finance, Marketing or Business Development

These are voluntary roles requiring around 10 days per year. Out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed. Board meetings are held quarterly, with a mix of in-person and virtual attendance. This is a rolling recruitment opportunity with no closing date. Applications will be reviewed and suitable candidates will be invited for an informal conversation with the Board. Successful candidates will be appointed at the next Board Meeting.
