NIE Networks are offering a number of Higher Level Apprenticeships in Electrical Engineering. As a Higher-Level Apprentice in Electrical Engineering, you'll gain hands-on experience across all operational areas of NIE Networks, learning how the electricity network functions and supports everyday life. You'll work alongside skilled colleagues, contractors, and external partners earning while you learn and building real industry knowledge. A key focus of the programme is developing the skills and expertise needed to maintain the safety and reliability of the electricity network. This includes gaining practical experience, achieving a recognised qualification, and playing a part in shaping the electricity network for future generations.

Essential Criteria

  • Be at least 18 years old by the start date (September 2026).
  • GCSE (or equivalent) in Mathematics and English at Grade C or above.
  • One of the following:
  • Have, or expect to achieve by August 2026, 3 A-Levels at grades A*- C including Mathematics or Physics
  • BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering (MMP*)
  • BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Engineering (MM*)
  • Either a new employee to NIE Networks or be able to demonstrate a significant change of role within the company.
  • Hold a full current UK driving licence or obtain one by the start date (September 2026).
  • For further information, the Role Specification Document is available to download. CV must be received no later than 11pm on Monday 9th February 2026.
