Essential Criteria
It is essential that the successful candidate meets the following requirements.
- Professional Qualification: NEBOSH General / Construction Certificate (or equivalent qualification in Occupational Health & Safety).
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Health & Safety Engineer (or equivalent technical safety role) within an engineering, manufacturing, utilities, or other high risk environment, with direct responsibility for designing, implementing, and evaluating safety systems and processes. OR currently hold or previously held NIE Networks Safety Rules or Equivalent Authorisation as a Senior Authorised Person - SAP - (up to 33kV Distribution or 110kV or 275kV Transmission) OR currently hold or previously held NIE Networks Safety Rules Authorisation as a Senior Authorised Industrial Staff β e.g. SAIS 1 or SAIS 2.
- Practical understanding: Knowledge of safe systems of work: Demonstrated understanding of organisational safe systems of work and their practical application in operational settings.
- Legislation Awareness: Strong working knowledge of relevant Health & Safety legislation, regulations, and industry standards.
- Safety Leadership: Proven track record of acting as a role model in safety, supporting and developing a positive safety culture across teams and contractors.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence, coach, and engage employees and stakeholders at all levels.
