Steelway Brickhouse, based in West Bromwich, is a key division of the business, producing precision-engineered access covers and frames for use across the Water, Sewer, Telecommunications, Power, Rail, Domestic, Industrial, and Commercial markets — in mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium.
About the Role
This is an ideal opportunity for someone with previous experience setting and operating laser cutting machines.
Key Responsibilities
- Set and operate Bodor and Trumpf CNC laser cutting machines to produce components to customer specifications.
- Prepare machines for production, including loading materials, selecting the correct programmes, tooling and machine settings.
- Read and work from engineering drawings, job sheets and production specifications.
- Load and select the correct CNC programmes and make basic adjustments to cutting parameters and machine settings where required.
- Inspect finished components using basic measuring equipment to ensure they meet drawing and specification requirements.
- Key Skills & Experience
- Previous experience setting and operating CNC laser cutting machines is essential.
- Bodor and/or Trumpf laser experience is diserable.
- Ability to read and interpet engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Experience working with different material types and thicknesses within a sheet metal or fabrication environment.
- Previous experience working with CNC machinery, press brakes, guillotines or other sheet metal machinery would be advantageous.
