We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join our team, focusing on sales ledger and credit control. This is a key role where you’ll help ensure strong cash flow, reduce aged debt and support the overall financial health of the organisation. Working closely with the Transactional Finance Manager, you’ll use your analytical skills to monitor income, resolve discrepancies and build positive relationships with customers and colleagues alike. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys problem-solving, working with data and making a real impact within a supportive finance team.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Managing and improving credit control processes to reduce overdue debt
- Contacting customers to resolve outstanding payments and queries professionally
- Allocating incoming payments and maintaining accurate financial records
- Performing detailed and sometimes complex account reconciliations
- Monitoring and reporting on income, including forecasting
- Producing and issuing customer statements and supporting invoice processes
- Investigating and resolving unallocated cash and discrepancies
- Collaborating with internal teams to resolve billing issues quickly
- Supporting month-end and year-end processes and reporting
- Maintaining up-to-date customer records and documentation
- Contributing ideas to improve processes and ways of working
What We’re Looking For
Experience & Qualifications
- At least 2 years’ experience in a finance role, ideally with credit control exposure
- Experience with account reconciliations and income processes
- Studying towards (or completed) AAT Level 2 or equivalent
- Experience with accounting systems (Sage is a bonus)
