  • Support planning, coordination, compliance and delivery of works through the Main Works Contractor, maintaining a consistent on-site presence and a strong 'don't walk by' culture.
  • Review, challenge and formally accept or reject RAMS and Contractor Daily Allocation Sheets, professionally challenging contractor safety and technical performance where required.
  • Contribute to the development of contract strategies and project designs, including input to Formal Safety Assessments and participation in HAZID, HAZOP, HAZCON and HAZDEM reviews.
  • Coordinate the timely preparation of permit documentation to align with project programmes and timescales.
  • Carry out site safety tours, audits and inspections in line with the Capital Project Team audit plan.

  • Holds relevant safety qualifications, including EUSR SHEA Gas and Safe Control of Operations (SCO) 1 & 2.
  • Demonstrates technical knowledge and experience in planning and delivering high-risk works, including working at height, lifting operations, confined spaces, hazardous waste (including asbestos and coal gas waste), and hot works (demolition qualification desirable but not essential).
  • Strong understanding of relevant safety, health and environmental legislation, NGN policies and procedures associated with high-risk activities.
  • Proven ability to lead, influence and negotiate effectively, building strong working relationships with NGN colleagues and main works contractor staff at all levels.
  • Customer-focused with excellent communication skills, able to support, challenge and engage stakeholders professionally.
  • Experience in carrying out EH&S audits and inspections, with the ability to influence continuous improvement across the workforce.

Desirable:

  • Holds, or is working towards, relevant demolition, supervisory and safety qualifications, including NFDC Demolition Supervisor, NVQ Level 4 (or equivalent), MAP test, CDM 2015, Temporary Works and asbestos awareness.
  • Trained and competent in high-risk activities including working at height, confined spaces, lifting operations, underground asset detection, COSHH and waste handling, fire control and first aid.

  • Salary from £53,539 per annum.
  • Up to 10% Bonus per annum (as part of the TOTEX Site Manager Incentive Scheme).
