Permanent Role
Based in our Leeds or Bradford Depot
We\’re looking for a skilled and motivated Network Maintenance Craftsperson – Mechanical to become a key part of our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of pressure reduction installations and associated assets across our network.
You will also play a vital role in supporting the design, installation, and commissioning of new and replacement assets, working closely with our Capital Projects team to help deliver high-quality infrastructure improvements.
A full UK driving licence is a requirement for this role
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Carry out decommissioning, installation, commissioning, validation, modification, and repair activities in line with relevant policies, procedures, and legal requirements. Ensure all work delivers optimal technical performance and equipment reliability, while maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance
- Prepare reports and provide information, guidance and advice to stakeholders and management and third-party customers on technical matters
- Support or lead activities such as plant inspections, network surveys, and the design and costing of network modifications. Prepare detailed technical specifications and cost estimates to support project planning and delivery
- Maintain accurate records of activities to satisfy Maintenance and Capital Projects, NGN, third party and legislative requirements
- Work towards all perimetry requirements and procedures including complex non-routine operations and routine operations affecting the NGN network
- Ensure a high standard of customer and stakeholder service
What we are looking for
- Hands-on experience in fault finding, repair, and commissioning of pressure reduction installations and pre-heating systems, including component replacement and system optimisation
- Familiarity with hazardous area operations, accurate completion of technical documentation, and the ability to manage spares and materials to support maintenance activities
- Self-motivated, capable of planning your own activities and be able to use IT in the field for work reporting
- Strong problem-solver and an analytical-thinker with excellent communication skills
- Proactive attitude and a strong team player whilst also having the ability to work on your own initiative and comfortable with lone working out of hours
- Operational and/or project management experience in a relevant field
- Knowledge of codes of practice, engineering instructions and safety requirements
Qualifications & Requirements
- EUSR Gas passport, SCO 1, 2 and 4, 5 Years\’ experience on gas distribution systems, TEM 2,4 and IOSH
- Experience of working on pressure reduction equipment above and below 7 bar
- Relevant mechanical maintenance or pressure control training City & Guilds or NVQ III
What we offer you
- Salary from £44,112 per annum + bonus according to the operational incentive mechanism + van + overtime rising to £51,842 dependent on qualifying competencies at each stage
- 41.25 hours per week over a 7-day variable work pattern, including standby. Rotas are given in advance and will include some night shifts although this would not be expected on a weekly basis
- 25 days annual leave (plus recognised bank holidays and 2 half days over the Christmas period)
- SSP for the first 2 calendar days then occupational sick pay
