Starting salary from £42,354 rising to £49,776 once fully competent – Pay award pending. Bonus + Incentives + Overtime + Standby + Van. Permanent role located across Yorkshire including York, Hull, Leeds and Bradford.

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join us in our Network Maintenance team. The department has recently merged with our Capital Projects team, opening the path to lots of opportunity to develop further skills and work cross-functionally.

As our new Network Maintenance Craftsperson - Instrumentation, you will be focusing on maintaining and calibrating instrument systems on a variety of gas sites owned and operated by NGN. The systems range from simple transmitter loops to fiscal metering systems. This will be a mobile role and is located across the Yorkshire area (York, Hull, Leeds, Bradford).

Key accountabilities and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Standby 365 days a year on a rota basis ideally 1 in 4.
  • You will maintain and calibrate instrumentation systems as well as fault finding.
  • There will be the repair and replacement of components, fittings, and fixtures.
  • You will be expected to complete paperwork and update systems for results and readings.
  • Commissioning of equipment.
  • Using IT in the field for work reporting.
  • Gas Quality work (development required for all).

What we are looking for in our Network Maintenance Craftsperson - Instrumentation:

  • Instrumentation Apprenticeship (City & Guilds) & NVQ.
  • You must be a logical thinker, with excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • You will have a proactive attitude and be a strong team player whilst also having the ability to work on your own initiative.
  • You will possess knowledge of codes of practice, engineering instructions and safety requirements.
  • Full UK driving licence.

It would be advantageous if you have any or all of the below:

  • EUSR Gas passport.
  • COMPEX EX 01,02,03,04.
  • SCO 1, 2 and 4.
  • Experience on gas distribution systems.
  • EL6 sign off (Restricted Authorised Person).
  • TIM 2,3,4.
  • HNC Level (Instrumentation).

What we offer you:

  • £42,354 per annum + bonus according to the operational incentive mechanism + van + overtime rising to £49,776 dependent on qualifying competencies at each stage – Pay award pending.
  • Hours per week will be 41.25 and operate over a 24-hour period, over a seven-day working week, including standby. The work patterns will be varied by management, including standby. Rotas and work patterns are given in advance and will include night shifts all of which are dependent on workload requirements.
  • 25 days annual leave (plus recognised bank holidays and 2 half days over the Christmas period).
  • SSP for first 2 calendar days then occupational sick pay.
