Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Network Maintenance Craftsperson to join our Network Maintenance team, which operates as part of our wider Capital Projects function. In this mobile role you will maintain and calibrate a variety of instrument systems across gas sites owned and operated by Northern Gas Networks (NGN). These systems range from simple transmitter loops to complex fiscal metering systems, giving you the opportunity to work with a wide range of technologies.
Responsibilities
- Carry out maintenance, calibration and fault-finding on a range of instrumentation systems
- Perform repairs and replacements of components, fittings and fixtures as required
- Commission equipment and ensure it meets operational standards
- Accurately record results and readings, complete all necessary documentation and update internal systems
- Use field‑based IT systems to report work and maintain records in real time
- Support Gas Quality work (development required by all)
- Participate in a 365‑day standby rota, ideally 1 in every 4 weeks
Qualifications
- A recognised Instrumentation Apprenticeship (e.g. City & Guilds) and NVQ Level3 or equivalent
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills, with a logical approach
- A proactive attitude and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Solid understanding of engineering instructions, codes of practice and health & safety regulations
- Excellent communication skills and confidence to make sound decisions in the field
- A commitment to continuous learning and development, with a willingness to adapt and grow

- EL6 sign off (Restricted Authorised Person)
