The opportunity
The UK energy market is fast-moving, unpredictable, and commercially critical. Every day brings new pricing, new risks, and new opportunities – especially in the wake of the 2022 energy crisis. That is why more businesses are turning to experts like NGP for support. We are looking for sharp, reliable professionals who can help customers navigate this complexity and prepare for their next renewal with confidence.
If you are commercially minded, motivated by results, and ready to take on a high-impact role in a leading consultancy – this could be your next move.
What exactly will you do?
As an Energy Sales Closer, you will take the lead at the most critical stage of the sales process — converting qualified leads into contracted customers. You will be working directly with businesses that are already engaged and open to change. Your job is to guide them through the final stages of procurement: shaping the strategy, managing the tender, and securing the best commercial outcome. This is a high-responsibility, high-reward sales role with a direct impact on revenue and client success.
Key responsibilities include:
- Tender management – You will prepare tailored energy procurement tenders based on the customer’s strategy and usage profile, engaging with our panel of over 80 international suppliers to deliver the most competitive outcomes.
- Commercial negotiation – You will lead all supplier and client negotiations, securing cost-effective contracts that support client goals on budget certainty, sustainability, and risk management.
- Client onboarding – Once the deal is agreed, you will ensure a smooth transition to the account management team, supporting early engagement and client confidence during the onboarding period.
- Collaborative conversion – You will work alongside your Business Development team to close deals at pace, providing pricing insight, product knowledge, and procurement expertise that accelerates decision-making.
- Contract strategy – You will advise clients on contract types (fixed, flex, blend & extend), renewal timelines, and wider market considerations, ensuring they understand the value of their commercial choices.
- Governance and compliance – You will follow NGP’s internal procurement protocols and compliance standards, representing both the customer and the supplier with transparency and professionalism.
You will receive full training and support, including NGP’s pricing tools, procurement workflows, and supplier panel access. This is a high-performing environment where every deal matters – and where the right person can build a rewarding, long-term career in energy sales.
What we are looking for
- Excellent telephone manner and communication skills – professional and articulate
- Ability to work under pressure when needed and achieve sales targets
- Ability to manage your own workload and pipeline
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, self-directed, professional environment
- Driven character, enthusiastic and passionate
- Self-motivated, with a drive and passion for success
