Thornaby Academy is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and resilient Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated Inclusion Centre team. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting students who may find mainstream lessons challenging, helping them to re-engage with learning, build confidence, and develop the skills they need to be successful.
Working closely with the Head of Centre, SENCO and class teachers, you will deliver targeted interventions and provide one to one and small group support that makes a lasting difference. This is a rewarding opportunity to work at the heart of the academy’s inclusive provision, supporting some of our most vulnerable young people to overcome barriers and achieve their full potential.
The successful candidate will:
- Support students’ academic, social and emotional development through structured and compassionate intervention.
- Deliver tailored learning activities and support differentiated teaching within the Inclusion Centre.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, the Inclusion team, and external agencies to ensure every student receives the right level of support.
- Encourage positive behaviour and promote self-regulation, resilience, and confidence in students.
- Contribute to reintegration plans, helping students successfully transition back into mainstream lessons where appropriate.

- Skilled in supporting students with a range of additional needs, including SEMH and SEND.
