Contract Type: Fixed Term - 31st August 2027
Salary Range: Grade 4, SCP 10-12, FTE £28,608.00 - £29,542.00, Pro Rata £23,908.92 - £24,689.53. Salary amounts quoted are from the 1 September to 31 August and therefore if you commence employment part way through the academic year they are subject to an equated salary adjustment.
Working Type: Part Time - 35 hours per week, 39 weeks per year. 45.942 paid weeks.

The Blyth Academy is seeking to appoint organised, efficient, and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team in the English Department. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students, delivering targeted interventions to help students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential at GCSE.
Working under the direction of classroom teachers, the Head of English, and the Inclusion Manager, you will work with individual students and small groups to nurture literacy skills, develop language and reasoning, and build confidence.
Key Responsibilities
- Targeted GCSE & Literacy Interventions: Deliver structured intervention programs in English for individuals and small groups to help students achieve their GCSE targets.
- Student Support & Mentoring: Discuss reasons for underperformance with students, help them develop reasoning and language skills, and assist in setting high expectations for their progress.
- Resource Development & Progress Tracking: Assist in developing suitable English intervention materials, keep detailed intervention logs, and monitor and record student progress relative to learning objectives.
- Classroom & Learning Support: Support teachers by clarifying instructions, helping students concentrate on and complete assignment tasks, and assisting in the integration of ICT in the English curriculum.
- Inclusion & Support Plans: Work alongside subject teachers to assist in the development and implementation of Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) for students requiring learning support.
- Parental & Departmental Collaboration: Liaise regularly with the Head of English, class teachers, and parents/carers regarding student feedback and progress.
- Occasional Cover: Supervise whole classes occasionally during short-term teacher absences.
