Salary Range: Grade 1, SCP 3-4, FTE salary £25,614.00 - £26,016.00, pro rata salary £9,362.62 - £9,509.56

Salary amounts quoted are from the 1 September to 31 August and therefore if you commence employment part way through the academic year they are subject to an equated salary adjustment

Working Type: Part Time (15 hours, 39 working weeks + 4 days, 46.885 paid weeks)

Base: The Blyth Academy, Chase Farm Drive, Blyth, NE24 4JP

Northern Education Trust is seeking a dedicated and thorough Cleaner to join our team. Working under the direct instruction of the Site staff and adhering to set procedures and guidelines, you will play a key role in ensuring designated areas of the academy are kept clean, hygienic, and safe to provide an optimal learning environment for our staff and students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cleaning Duties:
    • Vacuuming carpeted areas, sweeping hard floors, mopping, and buffing floors to required standards.

    • Wiping down surfaces, dusting, and cleaning academy walls.

    • Emptying bins, removing litter, graffiti, and chewing gum.

    • Thoroughly cleaning toilets, basins, and sinks.

  • Materials & Supplies Management:
    • Ensuring correct cleaning products and materials are used in line with COSHH standards.

    • Monitoring stock levels and notifying the Site Manager when supplies are low.

  • Health & Safety:
    • Ensuring cleaning materials are securely stored away from students and kept in clearly labelled containers.

    • Following health and safety guidelines and risk assessments (e.g. safe moving of furniture and proper use of mops/cloths).

    • Reporting potential hazards such as trailing wires or worn carpets to appropriate staff.

  • Strong attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness.

  • Awareness of COSHH and health & safety procedures in an educational setting.

  • Ability to follow direct instructions and established procedures effectively.

  • A proactive attitude towards maintaining a safe and tidy environment for children.
