We have an exciting opportunity for a Biomedical Engineer in the Medical Device Service at the Northern Care Alliance NHS Trust. You will join a team of engineers who specialise in the management of medical devices and equipment at Rochdale Infirmary and in the NCA communities. This is a Trust wide post which will require the post holder to work on other sites across the NCA.
You will be working with a multi-professional Medical Devices Team who deliver engineering, governance and training services across a number of Care Organisations and community teams. This Team welcomes innovative approaches and aims to provide clear development pathways and opportunities for staff at every level.
Main duties of the job:
- Carrying out routine maintenance on a wide range of medical equipment.
- Investigating and repairing medical equipment reported as faulty.
- Updating evidence of work done on an equipment database.
- Driving to community sites to collect, deliver, service and repair medical equipment.
- Assisting with the commissioning of new medical equipment, including testing and configuring before it is released for clinical use.
- Supporting users of medical equipment to make the best use of these assets, providing specialist advice in their clinical use and application.
- Assisting in the management of risk associated with medical devices, including involvement in training, investigations, testing and repair of medical equipment.
- Working in a team supporting each other to achieve the common goal of providing a high-quality service that is agile and flexible.
- Supporting senior engineers to carry out investigations on medical equipment and devices reported as being subject to an adverse incident or supplier recall notifications.
- Working with external suppliers of medical equipment.
- Regularly updating your knowledge and skills.

Qualifications:
- Full UK Driving License
- Electronic Engineering Degree
Knowledge:
- Specialist knowledge in the application and use of a wide range of medical equipment.
- Knowledge and experience of current legislation recommendations for the management of medical equipment.
- Wide range of supplier approved training on the servicing and repair of medical equipment.
Experience:
- Experience in a field of electronics maintenance and repair in a workshop environment.
- Experience of working with suppliers to resolve and manage clinical risk with the use and application of medical devices.
- Experience of working in a Quality System environment.
