Join to apply for the Student Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) Health Visiting role at Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust.
This is a fully funded training opportunity to become a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visiting). The role offers a fixed-term, one-year full-time contract for a BSc/PGDip Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visiting) course at the University of Greater Manchester.
Responsibilities
- Work as part of a skill-mix team to deliver the Healthy Child Programme in community settings, including Children’s Centres and family homes.
- Split time between academic study (University of Manchester) and clinical placement across HMR, with supervision and assessment support.
- Demonstrate attainment of the course learning outcomes and meet the person specification requirements for the SCPHN Health Visiting pathway.
- Engage in informal conversations and visits to the service to understand the role and opportunities.

- Salary: Band 5
- Funding: Fully funded training opportunity, subject to Health Education England funding; successful participants qualify as registered SCPHN Health Visitors.
Qualifications and Eligibility
- This vacancy is open to all qualified Nurses and Midwives looking to advance in public health nursing.
- A current NMC PIN to practice as a Registered Nurse in the UK is required, or you must be enrolled on a course and expect to receive full NMC PIN within the next 3 months.
- Note: An NMC PRN PIN does not fulfill the essential criteria.
- International Nurses: the trust is pausing OSCE and will not accept applications from those yet to complete full competencies for a UK PIN; see NMC guidance for international applicants.
