Manager, On Premises Platforms

This is a hybrid working role with a requirement to work onsite 2 β 3 days a week.
We\βre looking for an experienced On-Premises Platform Manager to oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of on-premises platform environments across NCA sites. This includes managing the deployment of servers, storage systems, databases, and middle-ware components, ensuring alignment with NHS standards and industry best practices.
As part of the group driving and supporting our on-premise hosting strategy, you\βll be responsible for managing on-premise environments across our platforms, bringing knowledge and experience of server virtualisation and storage technologies. All while ensuring seamless integration, cost efficiency, and automation. You\βll work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the infrastructure aligns with business objectives and can support our digital transformation initiatives.
Key responsibilities include overseeing on-premise architecture, implementing best practices for security and governance, and optimising performance. Your leadership will be pivotal in ensuring high availability, disaster recovery, and cutting-edge technology solutions that keep us competitive and agile.
Main duties of the job
Your primary responsibility will be to lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of on-premise platform environments used across NCA sites. This includes managing the deployment of virtual servers, storage systems, databases, middle-ware components, and other on-premise infrastructure components, ensuring alignment with NHS standards and industry best practices.
In addition to strategic planning, you will provide leadership and direction to a team of server and platform specialists. Your role will involve mentoring team members, fostering a culture of excellence, and promoting professional development to enhance the capabilities and effectiveness of the team.
As Manager, On-Premises Platforms, you will also be responsible for managing resources, budgets, and performance metrics to ensure the efficient and effective operation of server and platform services. Your leadership, strategic vision, and technical expertise will be instrumental in supporting the delivery of high-quality healthcare services to patients and communities within the NCA.

Qualifications
- Relevant degree level (or equivalent) or ability to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.
- Relevant management qualification (e.g. ILM / Leadership Qualification) or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.
- Evidence of continued professional development

- Relevant subject matter qualification (e.g. Microsoft / MCSE) or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.
Knowledge
- Able to identify and resolve complex issues and problems across a broad range of IT solutions to an advanced level.
- Advanced knowledge of a broad range of IT solutions, including PC/Server operating systems, applications and hardware solutions.
- Able to evaluate and define use of new IT solutions through research and development and build of test configurations.
- Significant relevant experience gained in a high-pressure IT Support environment.
- Significant experience of delivering, supporting and troubleshooting complex multi-vendor technical infrastructures.
- In depth experience of major corporate solutions including the Microsoft server product set, VMware, and industry standard network technologies and architectures.
- Some knowledge of common alternative subject matter systems such as Unix, Linux, OS X.
- Proven ability to develop and deliver strategic plans.
