Microbiology Associate Practitioner β Northern Care Alliance
The Northern Care Alliance Microbiology service is delivered from two main laboratories at Salford Royal and Royal Oldham hospital sites. The Salford Royal lab also provides services for The Christie under a Service Level Agreement and for Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust as part of the PAWS joint venture. We are transforming our service delivery towards a single service model.
As part of the scientific team, you will receive and prepare samples for analysis, input data into the laboratory computer system, conduct technical investigations, operate analyzers, perform Quality Control, and troubleshoot, all following established protocols. This work covers various sample types and investigations, essential for diagnosing infections.
We are seeking motivated and dynamic individuals to join as Associate Practitioners at the Salford site. We value enthusiastic, friendly, and well-motivated candidates with excellent interpersonal skills. Applicants should demonstrate accuracy, good communication skills, excellent time management, basic IT skills, and a strong commitment to high-quality patient care services. A Foundation Degree or equivalent in a science-related subject is required, with preferred experience in basic Microbiology techniques such as sample preparation and automated processing (training will be provided).
The service operates extended hours, including 7 days a week, with future plans for 24/7 coverage to support healthcare delivery.
