ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

As Portfolio Manager, you are responsible for driving the positive performance of the portfolios you and your team are responsible for. This includes client relationship management, production delivery and quality, growth of the portfolios within your team and retention of clients. You are responsible for guiding, empowering and developing your team to deliver the very best services and work to our clients. You will create clarity for what is required, hold your team to account and ensure the right support and training is in place to support their personal success.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Client Relationship Management & Retention: Ensuring we not only retain but grow our existing client base is key and you will be responsible for ensuring that Pod performance is monitored and ultimately delivered:
  • Build and maintain a strong client centric environment where offering exceptional service and ensuring we deliver true value across all touchpoints is paramount.
  • Actively monitor clients needs and look for opportunities to add more value, or increase client service.
  • Nip client service issues in the bud and demonstrate accountability for resolving them, and mitigating the recurrence where possible.
  • Lead the Pod in upselling and cross-selling services to existing clients, identifying opportunities for increased service provision.
  • Pod Production Performance: Regular oversight of our teams portfolios is key to ensuring that we achieve our growth ambitions and deliver against the promises we make to clients:
    • Monitor the production performance and delivery of the team on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
    • Lead through the team when it comes to action and ensure that they are held to account on delivery timescales.
    • Manage resource and capacity closely ensuring that we are able to consistently deliver.
    • Review and provide feedback on the quality of work produced ensuring high quality standards are maintained.
    • Guide and coach our team members on where there are growth opportunities within their portfolios.
    • Analyse and report on the portfolio/team performance with clear actions where challenges present themselves in line with our production and growth targets.
    • Lead the strategy for growing the existing portfolio as well as looking for other opportunities for the pod to grow.
  • Team Leadership, Quality & Development: Having a well trained, informed and motivated team is essential to achieving our goals and aspirations:
    • Lead and mentor the Pod, ensuring alignment with broader business goals and maintaining a high level of motivation and performance.
    • Ensure all our people have a clear set of performance objectives, a personal development plan and have performance meetings in line with our performance management framework.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and high performance.
    • Champion training and professional development programs to ensure teams maintain and further develop their competence.
    • Ensure that internal quality audits are carried out to ensure our standards are maintained.
  • Financial Performance: As Portfolio Manager, you are responsible for its financial performance and ensuring it meets its financial targets:
    • Agree realistic financial targets for your portfolios/team that will support the businesses overall goals.
    • Manage the budget for your team closely to ensure it stays on track.
    • Regularly report on the performance of your portfolios and team in line with financial targets set.
    • Take action to maintain performance inline with targets or the budgets set.
  • Delivery of Your Own Portfolio: Delivery of your own portfolio inline with NA standards including, client meetings, relevant preparation, on time delivery etc.
    • Delivery of the numbers report and reviewing work from your team before being passed to a client.
    • The ability to identify improvements we can make to client services.
    • Providing effective tax planning which includes basic planning, advanced planning, spotting mitigation opportunities, advising on share structures and other advantageous schemes to clients.
    • Ensure the timely and accurate delivery of Year End accounts production and submission, including the following services; Business Taxation Review, Personal Taxation Reviews, Accounts Preparation services, CT Preparation services, Submissions of all statutory accounts, Processing Confirmation statements.

    ABOUT YOU

    Key Skills, Knowledge and Experience (essential):

    • Proven senior leadership and management experience within an accountancy practice, ideally delivering similar services.
    • Exceptional client skills with proven experience of helping clients’ businesses to grow and growing a portfolio.
    • Demonstrates a service mindset with focus on developing and nurturing positive client relationships.
    • Proven experience in business development and strong influencing skills.
    • Full ACCA, ACA, CIMA qualification.
    • Experience of working in an Accounting Practice.
    • High levels of commercial acumen and able to inspire the team to think the same.
    • Knowledge of Xero and/or the ability to adapt to use latest software technologies.
    • Builds knowledge about the needs of clients and the future of our industry so we can stay ahead of the curve.
    • Knowledge of Taxcalc or similar Accounting software.
    • Experience at a senior management level.

    Pay: £46,000.00-£60,000 per year dependent on experience.
