About the Role

The SPD Courier driver will transport surgical instrumentation between campus locations, ensuring safety, proper handling, documentation, and compliance with regulations. Responsibilities include loading/unloading, maintaining logs, handling soiled instruments, and assisting as an SPD tech when needed. The role reports to the ORC Manager and requires collaboration with various departments. The candidate must demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and understanding of their role\’s impact on patient care.

Minimum Qualifications

• Valid Georgia Driver\’s License with no violations
• High School Diploma or GED
• At least 12 months experience in Sterile Processing

Preferred Qualifications

• Additional licensure or certifications
• Advanced education or experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
• Knowledge of surgical instruments and sterilization principles

Responsibilities

• Transport and verify surgical instruments across campuses
• Maintain accurate documentation and chain of custody
• Handle and inspect instruments carefully
• Ensure vehicle safety and compliance with DOT regulations
• Optimize delivery routes and maintain vehicle condition
• Follow safety protocols for instrument transport

Physical Demands

• Lift and carry up to 35 lbs
• Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, and bending
• Visual and manual dexterity requirements
