Become an Autism Coach and help individuals with Autism navigate their world with Northeast Arc! We are looking for qualified individuals to join our Guided Personal Support Program as an Autism Coach in the Westford, MA and the surrounding areas.

The Guided Personal Support (GPS) Program is made up of a combination of SSQUAL contracts (Enhanced Family Support for Adults) from the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services (DDS) that focus on preparing individuals on acquiring skills in different aspects of their lives to be more independent and live their best life. All of the referrals in this program come from DDS.

Autism Coaches are intended to help coach an individual using a life plan. Some of the skill sets that individuals can work on include social, relationship, employment, education etc. This program also includes the pre-engagement coaching program that works with individuals who are having a difficult time connecting with a provider. The goal is to work on building an initial relationship before identifying other goals.

Job Summary: Autism Coaches support individuals to meet their personal goals. The Autism Coach operates independently with an individual and in the community.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provides individualized supports to clients for the purpose of fostering community inclusion, community building and independence.
  • Teaches specific skills and behaviors, such as executive functioning skills, appropriate relational boundaries, in accordance with the goals, objectives and strategies identified in the individual’s plan.
  • Communicates with Supervisor regularly regarding progress, challenges, and goals.
  • Completes and submits all other necessary paperwork (time sheets, incident reports) in a timely manner and in accordance with program and agency policies.
  • Use personal vehicle (when applicable) to transport the individual to goal related community activities.
  • Provides mandated reporting consistent with Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 119, Sections 51A-51G.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor\’s degree in human services or other related field required. Master\’s in relevant field preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year working with an individual with disabilities
  • Excellent and demonstrated interpersonal skills and team-building skills
  • Comfortability working in a home or community based environments.
  • Valid driver\’s license and reliable transportation required.

Schedule: 2 to 6 hours a week, based on client needs and availability.

Pay Rate: $25-$45 hourly based on education and experience.
