Northcott Global Solutions

Role Overview Northcott Global Solutions (NGS) is seeking a Security Operations Manager to join its Security & Travel Risk Management (STRM) Department. The Security Operations Manager will support the day-to-day delivery of NGS' global security, travel risk, and crisis response services. Working closely with the Head of Security & Risk, Head of Travel Risk and Operations Director, the role will provide operational planning, case management, intelligence-led security support, and coordination of international security services. This is a mid-entry managerial position intended for an individual who already possesses relevant operational or security experience and is looking to further develop their career within international security risk management and crisis response. The successful candidate will be expected to manage routine and moderately complex operational requirements independently, while recognising when higher-risk, complex or sensitive matters require escalation. NGS operates globally and supports clients in both routine and highly challenging environments. The position therefore requires professionalism, sound judgement, flexibility, and the ability to remain effective when working under pressure. Key Responsibilities The Security Operations Manager will: Provide security and travel risk management support to NGS clients and travellers globally, managing assigned cases from initiation through to closure. Plan and coordinate security services including secure transportation, journey management, protective security, and other operational requirements. Conduct threat and risk assessments and monitor security developments, providing timely and proportionate advice to clients and internal teams. Produce security briefs, assessments, journey management plans, Task Request Forms (TRFs), Task Outline Documents (TODs), and other operational documentation. Support crisis and emergency response operations, including evacuations, relocations, contingency planning, and major incident activations. Identify and coordinate appropriate global security providers, conducting necessary pre-task checks covering personnel, vehicles, routes, communications, and contingencies. Maintain effective communication with clients, travellers, providers, deployed consultants, and internal stakeholders throughout operations. Support security briefings, training, exercises, aviation, and evacuation requirements where required. Maintain accurate case records and ensure operational activity and documentation meet NGS procedures, client requirements, and quality standards. Participate in the Duty Security Manager/on-call structure and provide additional support during periods of increased operational demand. Undertake occasional overseas travel or deployment where required and provide operational input to client meetings, proposals, and security risk assessments. Support management of the security operational budget including client billing and vendor invoicing in line with contractual agreements and financial controls. Support the due diligence of NGS’s service providers and capabilities across the organisation’s Global Assistance Network. Contribute to lessons identified, continuous improvement and other reasonable responsibilities appropriate to the role. Operational Responsibility and Authority The Security Operations Manager will be expected to exercise sound judgement and take ownership of assigned operational requirements. Within established NGS procedures and authority levels, the postholder will be expected to independently manage routine and medium-complexity security tasks, including planning, provider coordination, client communication, monitoring, and task closure. Crisis and Emergency Response As a global emergency assistance organisation, NGS may periodically experience significant increases in operational activity caused by security incidents, natural disasters, conflict, political instability, terrorism, major accidents, or other crises. During such periods, the Security Operations Manager may be required to: Support activation of NGS crisis response arrangements. Assist with evacuation and relocation operations. Support traveller identification, location, and welfare activity. Coordinate security providers and other operational resources. Assist with route, border, airport, and transport assessments. Maintain operational logs and situation reporting. Support client communications and operational briefings. Work flexibly outside normal hours where reasonably required. The ability to remain calm, organised, and professional during rapidly developing situations is therefore an important requirement of the position. Essential Skills and Experience Candidates should ideally demonstrate: Approximately three or more years of relevant experience within security, military, police, intelligence, emergency response, travel risk, operations, protective services, or a comparable environment. Experience of operational planning, coordination, case management, or security-related service delivery. An understanding of security risk management principles. Strong written and verbal communication skills. The ability to research, assess and interpret security-related information. The ability to identify risk and develop practical and proportionate recommendations. Strong organisational and planning skills. The ability to manage multiple priorities and changing operational requirements. Good attention to detail and record keeping. Confidence communicating with clients, travellers, service providers, and senior stakeholders. Ability to work independently while recognising when escalation or additional support is required. Ability to remain calm and effective when operating under pressure. Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills. Competence using standard business and operational technology. Equivalent professional, military, police or operational experience will be considered alongside formal qualifications. Desirable Experience and Qualifications The following would be advantageous but are not essential: Degree or recognised qualification in security risk management, international relations, intelligence, crisis management, or a related discipline. Professional security or travel risk management qualification. Membership of an appropriate professional body. Experience within a 24/7 operations centre, emergency assistance company, travel risk provider, or security consultancy. Experience coordinating international security providers. This will also include: Out-of-hours operational support during crisis events. Participation in an on-call/Duty Security Manager roster. Support during major incidents, crises, or periods of significant operational demand. Occasional evening or weekend working. Overseas travel or deployment where required.
