Location: Working across all Northcare Glasgow and East Kilbride Care Homes

Annual Salary: £50,000

Working Hours: Full Time Position, 5 days per week, every 2nd weekend off

We are looking for a passionate and reliable Chef to join our friendly care home team. You will play an important role in preparing nutritious, high-quality meals that support the health and wellbeing of our residents. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys cooking fresh meals, understands dietary requirements, and wants a better work-life balance than traditional hospitality environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook fresh nutritious meals for residents daily
  • Home baking to high standards: Celebration cakes, desserts & sweet snacks
  • Cater for specialist diets including allergens & intolerances, IDDSI texture diets, diabetic, food fortification, religious requirements and more
  • Prepare and execute fine dining main courses & desserts for private dining events within the care home to the highest standards
  • Manage all kitchen duties during head chef’s absence
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness
  • Manage stock rotation, ordering, and portion control
  • Ability to work within budgets
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP, Food Safety and Health & Safety regulations
  • Lead, motivate and supervise direct staff
  • Work closely with care staff to meet residents’ individual dietary needs
  • Create varied menus that residents enjoy, including theme menus & events
Requirements
  • Previous fine dining experience, catering in restaurants, hotels and events (care home chef experience would be desired)
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (minimum requirement)
  • Good understanding of nutrition and dietary requirements for older adults
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Reliable, organised, and compassionate approach
