We are recruiting on behalf of my client, a well established Building Services Design Consultancy based in West Yorkshire, who are looking to appoint a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their team. The business specialises in low-carbon and sustainable mechanical and electrical building services design, delivering projects across sectors including healthcare, education, higher education, refurbishment, and commercial developments.

This role would be well suited to an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer who is looking for a long term opportunity with genuine progression. Ideally, this would suit someone who, in the future, would be interested in stepping into a Director level role. This position offers the chance to become a key figure within the business while continuing to develop commercially and technically.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is confident leading projects, managing client relationships, and supporting the continued growth of a successful consultancy.

The Role

  • Leading electrical design on projects from concept through to completion
  • Producing and reviewing electrical designs, specifications, reports & documentation
  • Delivering low-carbon and sustainable electrical building services solutions
  • Managing client relationships and representing the business in meetings
  • Supporting project delivery, commercial management, and technical coordination
  • Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the development of the electrical team
  • Liaising with external consultants, contractors, and wider design teams
  • Ensuring designs are delivered in line with project requirements and deadlines
  • Supporting business development and long term client relationships

What They’re Looking For:

  • Strong background in Electrical Building Services design
  • Ideally Chartered, or actively working towards Chartership
  • Proven experience delivering electrical designs across healthcare, education, commercial, refurbishment, or mixed use projects
  • Strong client facing and communication skills
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to build strong client relationships
  • Ability to lead projects and support junior engineers
  • Interest in low-carbon and sustainable building services design
  • Ambition to progress into a senior leadership or Director level position
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK Building Services standards and regulations
