Join our Planning team and play a key role in supporting projects, performance, and data-driven decision making.
Performance:Support the development and delivery of the Planning Service through monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on projects, budgets, and performance. Provide administrative support to ensure projects progress effectively.
Data:Act as an IT superuser across Planning systems, managing data and supporting the extraction and analysis of information to inform decision-making.
What will you be doing?
The purpose of the post is to provide support across the functions of the Planning Policy and Development Management and Enforcement. Duties will include:
- Assisting senior colleagues and managers in the planning service
- Ensuring high levels of customer service
- Supporting initiatives and all aspects of process improvement and system review
- Provide regular management, monitoring and evaluation of projects, budgets, action plans, and programmes
- Compile statistics to populate returns for local and national performance indicators
- Produce statements
- Monitor and report on customer response and complaints
About you
Educated to degree level or equivalent experience to demonstrate the same level of:
- Attaining a critical understanding of theories and concepts
- A conceptual understanding necessary to devise and sustain arguments, and/or to solve problems with an appreciation of uncertainty, ambiguity and limits of knowledge
- An ability to manage their own learning and to deploy accurately established techniques of analysis and enquiry
- The ability to communicate information, ideas, problems and solutions to both specialist and non-specialist audiences
- The exercise of initiative and personal responsibility and decision-making in complex and unpredictable contexts
- Basic understanding of the English Planning System
- Demonstrate ability to prioritise workload and operate under own initiative
- Project Management and work to deadlines
- Good communication and organisation
- Able to deliver excellent customer service and work under pressure
- Willingness and ability to travel as required independently to multiple sites across the Council’s administrative area to undertake site visits, or further away to attend meetings and events on behalf of the Council
