About the role

This is your chance to join North Northamptonshire Council’s Housing Management Service at a time of real change and investment. We are reshaping our services to be more visible, proactive and closer to tenants – and our sheltered housing team is at the heart of this transformation.

As a Sheltered Services Officer, you will work directly with residents in our schemes, providing support, reassurance and practical help to ensure they feel safe, connected and able to thrive. You’ll be a familiar, friendly face who residents can rely on – and you’ll play a key role in building strong communities within our schemes.

You will be part of a service that is:

  • Visible and connected – smaller patches, stronger links with tenants and communities.
  • Supportive and responsive – more focus on helping vulnerable residents maintain independence.
  • Engaged and accountable – giving tenants a stronger voice and greater involvement in how their schemes are run.
  • Cleaner and safer – with more caretaking support to improve communal spaces.

This is a rewarding and people-focused role where every day you will see the positive impact of your work.

About you

We are looking for people who are caring, proactive and passionate about supporting older and more vulnerable residents.

What will you bring to the role:

  • Passion, Resilience, Innovation, Drive and Energy – with a commitment to Working Together to Achieve Success.
  • Experience of working with older people, vulnerable adults, or in housing, support or community services.
  • Excellent people skills – approachable, empathetic and confident in building trust.
  • The ability to respond calmly and effectively to emergencies or challenging situations.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage a busy workload.
  • A genuine commitment to helping residents feel safe, connected and part of a thriving community.
  • A driving licence and access to a car is essential.
  • Although the role is working Monday to Friday, the service covers 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and you will be required to cover weekends, bank holidays and on calls (8pm – 8am) on a rolling rota. An additional payment is made for these.

An example of working hours are:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 9am - 1pm
  • Wednesday 11am - 3pm

This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-looking housing service, make a visible difference every day, and play your part in creating safer, stronger and more supportive communities.
