As an HGV / Equipment Technician, your purpose is to ensure that all emergency service vehicles and associated equipment are safe, legally compliant, and fully operational at all times. You will carry out maintenance, servicing, and repairs across a wide range of specialist fleet and firefighting equipment and support our external contractor, while also providing out-of-hours cover and operational support. Your work ensures maximum fleet availability and reliability, supporting 24/7 emergency response capability across Northamptonshire and beyond.
Responsibilities:- Ensure safety and legal compliance of emergency vehicles and equipment.
- Carry out maintenance, repairs, and servicing for specialist fleet and firefighting equipment.
- Support external contractor with repair and maintenance tasks.
- Provide out-of-hours cover and operational support as required.
- Work with a highly skilled and collaborative Joint Transport and Logistics team supporting both Northamptonshire Police and Northamptonshire Fire & Rescue Service.
- Exposure to a diverse fleet and advanced technical expertise.
