This is a genuinely distinctive opportunity for an experienced civil litigator to join a newly formed in-house legal team serving Northamptonshire's Police, Fire and Rescue Service, and the Office of the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner.
The Role
You will manage a caseload of civil litigation matters including claims for false imprisonment, misfeasance, malicious prosecution, wrongful arrest, occupational stress, and road traffic incidents, alongside the risk management considerations that arise from these. You will handle both pre-issued and issued claims, and while advocacy is not required, there is scope for disclosure challenges and case management hearings for those who want to develop in that direction. You will be well supported. Two experienced paralegals and a dedicated civil investigator handle the investigative groundwork on claims before they reach you, and workloads are managed sensibly, with overflow outsourced rather than piled onto the team.
Why Join
The team is at an exciting point in its development. There is real scope to help shape how legal services are delivered across the organisation. The successful candidate will have exposure to Gold Command Group and work closely with senior force leadership. If you want work that carries genuine weight and profile, this delivers it.
