This role will provide day to day operational management and clinical leadership for ALMHS. The Team provides overarching specialist mental health assessments, interventions, care planning and discharge planning for people with mental health needs presenting at the general hospital.
The Operational Manager (OM) is responsible for the line management of the staff working in their team and has responsibility for utilising a range of systems including Healthroster, ESR, Agresso, SystmOne, Datix, SMART to ensure the achievement of KPIs. Expected results are defined, but the post holder has the autonomy to decide how these are achieved.
The OM will provide and receive complex, sensitive or contentious information where complex skills are needed for clinical and operational situations. They will be required to undertake investigations including resolving and embedding learning from concerns and complaints through exercising judgement and analysing complex facts and/or situations consisting of several components.
The OM is responsible for managing the budget for their team with responsibility for authorising expenditure and accountability for the expenditure within their cost centre. The OM will be responsible to ensure team members welfare, ensuring there are plans to achieve the best from their workforce through the appraisal & supervision process and facilitate team processes that encompass all HR functions., Key aims of the role include:
· Facilitating effective communication between mental health services and the general hospital;
· Ensuring that there is an appropriate provision of mental health assessment and care when patients are admitted to the general hospital.
· Meeting the Key Performance Indicators expected in this role
· Creating and monitoring eroster, ensuring safe and effective staffing levels
· Developing the service in line with current research and guidance
· Achieve and maintain PLAN accreditation.
· Leading on complex cases and clinical review
· Representing NHFT and ALMHS at various multidisciplinary meetings
