An exciting opportunity to work at HMP Peterborough as part of the Integrated Substance Misuse Team. HMP Peterborough is a Category B prison in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire with 868 male and 360 female prisoners. The role requires a caring, positive attitude, good communication and organisational skills. A strong interest in working with prisoners is essential.

Main duties:

  • Lead by example and work well in a team
  • Specialist interest in substance misuse – complete clinical observations and assessments on substance misuse patients
  • Provide research‑based high‑quality care in accordance with local and national policies
  • Act as responder to emergencies, screen patients in reception and on the wings, triage patients and hold nurse‑led clinics
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities and set an example to junior staff
  • Participate in audits, research and project work as requested
  • Supervise and support junior staff/students and support their development and education
  • Develop and support the concept of change, contributing ideas whilst demonstrating an awareness of prison issues

  • Substance misuse prescribing experience
  • Prison/secured services setting experience
  • RCGP 2 Substance misuse level 3 qualifications or equivalent
  • One year hospital experience
