Northamptonshire Fire & Rescue Service is looking for a Training Support Technician to support instructors and deliver Safety Critical Training at our training complex in Chelveston. This critical role is the key to ensuring that the training we deliver is performed to the highest standards.
Position: Permanent – Full‑time – Based at Chelveston, Northamptonshire.
Responsibilities:
- Periodic testing and inspection of safety critical equipment.
- Use IT systems to input test results and follow the scheduled training programme.
- Monitor and forecast stock requirements on site and place orders accordingly.
- Use power tools to prepare timber for live fire training containers.
- Ignite and maintain fires for Training Instructors.
- Provide routine building upkeep and facility management, e.g. refuel generators, maintain lecture rooms, clean workshops and containers before/after training.
- Follow strict Health, Safety & Welfare policies and procedures.
Qualifications & skills:
- Full driving licence with ability to travel across the county. (Vehicle will be provided)
- Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation.
- DIY maintenance skills including work with power tools.
- Good mechanical skills.
- Ability to work unsupervised due to remote location.
- Medical clearance to wear breathing apparatus.
About the role: You will work alongside the current Training Support Technician and instructors as part of the Training Delivery Team.
