About the role:

As a Family Support Worker within Duty and Assessment (DAAT), you will be part of the team who build meaningful relationships with children and their families helping them grow, prosper and achieve. The Duty and Assessment team is the single point of contact for all safeguarding concerns relating to children and young people in Northamptonshire. Professionals from a range of services that have contact with children, young people, their families and carers collaborate to ensure immediate and prompt responses; their combined knowledge and expertise keeping children and young people in Northamptonshire safe from harm. This is a county-wide position so you will need to effectively travel across the county as and when required.

What will you be doing?

You will provide focused family support to children and families with complex needs, many of whom are either on Child in Need or Child Protection Plans or part of an assessment process in DAAT. You’ll work with the whole family to improve parenting capacity, undertaking direct work with children and providing support to families to increase the skills, confidence and abilities of all family members to live their daily lives in a positive and safe way.

About you:

You will be confident working directly with families in their homes and engaging with professionals from schools, health services, and other agencies. Experienced in a family support role, you understand the complexities faced by children and families, including safeguarding concerns. You are familiar with frameworks such as the Children Act and can apply assessment and analytical skills to plan and deliver practical support. You are IT literate, able to use Word and Excel confidently, and committed to continuous learning. Above all, you share our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. You are ready to take on a role where your work truly matters.

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore subject to an enhanced DBS certificate. It is also a regulated activity and will be subject to a Barred List check.
