Our new Circle to Success Support Service collaborates with social work teams to provide direct interventions for children, young people, and families, helping them live in family settings or progress towards independence. This includes supporting those on the ‘edge of care’ to remain with their families.

As a Family Support worker, you will work directly with families and partner agencies to deliver trauma-informed services, ensuring the welfare and protection of children and young people in line with Northamptonshire Children’s Trust’s legal obligations. The service supports children with various needs, including learning difficulties, disabilities, educational challenges, relationship issues, protection from harm, and legal matters.

You will play an influential role in the lives of vulnerable children and young people, requiring a creative and flexible approach. This involves working in homes and community settings, attending family meetings with professionals such as police, schools, health centres, and other support services. Occasionally, you may need to work outside office hours, including evenings and weekends, depending on the needs of the children and their networks., You will manage specific areas of work allocated by the Clinical Lead Practitioner, liaising with professionals to support young people and their families.

You will attend planning reviews, meetings, and visits to assist in analysing requirements and planning appropriate care programs.

Your work will involve undertaking trauma-informed direct work with family members as specified by the care plan, ensuring the welfare and protection of children and young people.

You will provide practical care to improve family functioning, monitor and review work plans, and undertake assessments to safeguard the health and wellbeing of children and families.

Additionally, you will develop your knowledge and skills, build strong working relationships with professionals, and challenge the provision of services to benefit service users.

  • You are educated to GCSE level or equivalent and have basic IT skills, including proficiency in Word and Excel.

  • You are knowledgeable about current legislation related to the job, such as the Children Act, Adoption and Children Act, and Health and Safety legislation

  • Experienced using an assessment framework you possess strong assessment and analytical skills. Your verbal, written, and communication skills are excellent, and you are well-organized.

  • You have experience working in family support or a similar role with children and families, and ideally, you have experience with trauma-informed practice.

  • Your commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people is paramount, and you are dedicated to providing secure, nurturing, and positive experiences for them.
