Happy@Home Telephone befrienders provide a lifeline for elderly people who are feeling socially isolated and vulnerable in the community. Our Telephone befrienders give a regular weekly call to an elderly resident, providing them with a listening ear and monitoring their general well-being. Telephone befrienders do far more than just have a chat with people - they build relationships that support isolated elderly people, especially those who are too frail to leave their homes and have little contact with the outside world.
All our volunteers receive induction training and are given ongoing support by our project coordinators. We require reference checks from 2 people who are not related to you. If you have up to an hour a week, and like talking to older people, then why not contact us for an informal chat and more information?
