Do you have a few hours spare to volunteer in your local community? We are looking for volunteers to support at regular social events for older people in Daventry and surrounding villages as part of the Happy at Home Project, aiming to reduce social isolation and loneliness for older people.
If you like chatting, meeting people, eating cakes or bacon butties, and generally helping out, then this may be for you!
The Happy at Home Project operates in Daventry and across West Northants and currently organizes regular social events for the elderly in Daventry, Brixworth, Long Buckby, Brackley, and Kilsby.
We really need volunteers who can help to set up an event, which may include cooking bacon rolls, making tea and coffee, serving food, and chatting with attendees. Additionally, you'll help clear away at the end of the event.
We would like to hold quizzes, art and craft sessions, Bingo, and music. If you would like to get involved with any of these, we would love to hear from you!
If you are in a position to volunteer, it is a great way to give back to your community, help others, and make new friends. It can also make you feel good, knowing you may make a positive difference in the lives of others.
We have seen how these social events are making such a difference to older people who may have been feeling lonely, and we manage to run the events thanks to amazing volunteers who can spare some of their time!
All reasonable expenses to and from the event will be reimbursed. Lifts will be arranged where possible to reduce expenses and support those volunteers who do not have access to transport. You can volunteer on your own or with friends. This is an ideal opportunity for small groups of volunteers or friends to get involved as well.
