Join to apply for the Consultant Vascular Surgery role at Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust Job Summary University Hospitals of Northamptonshire Vascular Unit, are looking to appoint a full time Consultant Vascular Surgeon 4, following the retirement of a senior colleague. This post is currently occupied by a Locum Vascular Surgeon. We are looking to appoint an individual who can work well in our team and who can bring an additional range of skills. Candidates who have recently CCT and CESR as well as established consultants are welcome to apply. Candidates who have open and endovascular experience are welcome, but independent endovascular skills as such is not an essential requirement. Shortlisted candidates who are unsuccessful will also be considered for potential temporary vacancies. Main duties of the job Primarily based at Northampton General Hospital and also covers Vascular services at Kettering General Hospital. The initial job plan comprises a total of 10 PAs per week (8.5 DCC PAs, including on call, and 1.5 SPA) and is subject to annual review with the Clinical Director. The service operates on a 6 week rolling rota. Apart from regular clinics and theatre lists, candidates would be required to participate in Clinical Governance activities. We are proud of our Vascular Renal Access Service which covers the Northamptonshire County and run specialist complex clinics dedicated to this service. Additionally, we also provide a dedicated service to the diabetic population of the county, with regular virtual clinics and diabetic foot rounds. There is capacity for endovascular sessions within the 6 week cycle in the IR suite for appointees with endovascular competence with potential for future expansion to day case angiography lists at KGH. This job will ideally suit a modern hybrid vascular surgeon with endovascular skills. Clinics are held in NGH and KGH with outreach clinics held in Corby, Nene park and Daventry. Detailed job plan is open to discussion between the successful candidate, Consultant colleagues and the Trust. Agreed job plans will include travel and patient admin time. All vascular consultants are currently allocated 1PA for patient admin and 1.5 PA for basic SPA. There will be an option to increase the job plan to 12 PAs if agreed.
